Accessibility Declaration

Pursuant to Italian Law No. 4/2004 and EU Directive 2016/2102

10 marzo 2026

1. Accessibility Commitment

HeyDottore S.r.l. is committed to ensuring the digital accessibility of its technical doctor–patient communication platform, in compliance with Italian Law No. 4 of January 9, 2004 (Stanca Law) and subsequent amendments, EU Directive 2016/2102, Italian Legislative Decree No. 106/2018, and the European standard EN 301 549.

As a digital health service, we recognize that accessibility is not only a legal obligation but an ethical imperative: every person has the right to access remote healthcare communication services regardless of their abilities.

2. Conformance Status

The HeyDottore platform is partially conformant with the WCAG 2.1 Level AA standard, pursuant to Article 3-quater of Law 4/2004.

Partial conformance means that some parts of the content do not fully meet all success criteria. Below we list conformant areas and known non-conformities.

Last assessment update: March 10, 2026

3. Conformant Areas

The following areas meet WCAG 2.1 AA requirements:

  • Semantic HTML structure with hierarchical headings (h1-h6) on all pages
  • Skip navigation links on main pages
  • Dynamic lang attribute on HTML element, updated on language switch
  • Descriptive, dynamic page titles for every application route
  • Visible focus indicator (focus-visible) for keyboard navigation
  • Color contrast conforming to minimum 4.5:1 ratio for text and placeholders
  • Alternative text for meaningful images (logos, informative icons)
  • Responsive interface adapted down to 320px without loss of functionality
  • Content available in Italian and English with accessible language switcher
  • Cookie banner keyboard-accessible with appropriate ARIA roles
  • Complete ARIA attributes on the "Invite a Doctor" section (roles, states, labels)
  • Programmatic label-field associations (for/id) on all registration and login forms (WCAG 1.3.1)
  • Error messages associated with fields via aria-describedby with role="alert" (WCAG 3.3.1)
  • Toast notifications with aria-live="polite" for automatic screen reader announcements (WCAG 4.1.3)
  • No flashing content or uncontrollable animations

4. Known Non-Conformities

Pursuant to Article 3-quater, paragraph 2(b) of Law 4/2004, the following non-accessible content and related reasons are listed:

WCAG 1.4.1 — Use of Color

In some areas (consultation status, presence indicators), color is the sole means of conveying information. Icons or text labels will be added.

WCAG 4.1.2 — Name, Role, Value

Some custom components (dialogs, dropdowns, tabs) do not fully expose ARIA roles and states to assistive technologies.

5. Remediation Plan

HeyDottore commits to resolving the non-conformities listed above according to the following timeline:

Completed — March 2026

Dynamic page titles, dynamic lang attribute, visible focus indicators, conformant placeholder contrast

Completed — March 2026

Form label-field associations on all forms (WCAG 1.3.1), programmatic error messages with aria-describedby and role="alert" (WCAG 3.3.1), aria-live on toast notifications (WCAG 4.1.3)

By June 2027

Complete ARIA roles on all custom components (WCAG 4.1.2), non-color-only indicators (WCAG 1.4.1), full audit with assistive technologies

6. Accessibility Measures Taken

HeyDottore takes the following measures to ensure and continuously improve accessibility:

  • Internal accessibility assessment with automated tools (Lighthouse, axe-core) and manual verification
  • Development guidelines including accessibility requirements for each new component
  • Testing with assistive technologies (VoiceOver, keyboard navigation) during development
  • Continuous monitoring of accessibility reports with commitment to respond within 5 business days
  • Quarterly review of conformance status and update of this declaration

7. Technology Compatibility

The platform is designed to be compatible with:

  • Modern browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge (latest 2 versions)
  • Screen readers: VoiceOver (macOS/iOS), NVDA (Windows), TalkBack (Android)
  • Keyboard navigation and alternative input devices
  • Mobile devices iOS and Android via web browser
  • Browser zoom up to 200% without loss of functionality

8. Known Limitations

Despite our efforts, some areas of the platform may have accessibility limitations due to external factors:

  • User-uploaded PDF documents: we cannot guarantee the accessibility of documents uploaded by third parties
  • Third-party components: some external integrations (e.g., Stripe payment system, Cloudflare Turnstile widget) have their own accessibility levels
  • Messaging: new message notifications may not be automatically announced by all screen readers

9. Feedback and Contact

We welcome feedback regarding the accessibility of our platform. If you encounter accessibility barriers or have suggestions for improvement, contact us:
